I had made a COMMITMENT to go...

on a diet, and I informed my wife, who is my accountability partner, about the decision.
I TOLD her that I won't be taking certain foods, and for the first few days I did according to my WORD. One night after supper which was a small lump of Sadza( same size with my daudgters')swimming in a guttersoup of delicious meat with lots of veggies I entered the kitchen Lo and behold my eyes fell on a loaf of bread that was conveniently placed next to a tub of my favorite margarine. I tell you, this particular bread was gorgeous! In Shona we say " changa chakabatana chingwa ichi amana "; in Ndebele, " sasi grand mafetu". Bread is one of the items listed as forbidden; I am only supposed to take 2 slices of bread just once a week. Margarine is the reason why I "look" big ( ndinozora). I took another look at the temptation before me. It was as if the two twins, the bread and margarine, were saying, "Come and get us" . I was alone in the kitchen, and I looked behind me, and there was no one. I quickly went for the bread knife, and in no time I was spreading a thick layer of margarine on the bread. My wife suddenly stormed into the kitchen, and u should have seen the guilty look on my face. I felt like a little naughty child, with my eyes moving aimlessly as I struggled to explain myself to this "seer" before me. SHE HAD JUST CAUGHT me red-handed with the forbidden fruit in my hands. I had broken the vital diet law that says NO BREAKFAST AFTER SUPPER.
TODAY I want to remind you that for every goal that you have, there is a commitment that you have to make. For me, my goal is to lose weight, and the commitment is to eat less. Maybe your goal is to grow spiritually or to prosper. Today, as you stroll in God's garden in pursuit of your dreams, goals, destiny etc remember that diverse temptations will be put conveniently before you. There are many handsome dudes out there who outclass your hubby in every area, and likewise kunevasikana vanogeza kunze uko kudarika mukadzi wako. Miyedzo everywhere! In some cases, no one will be watching. In some cases, you don't have to pay to indulge. CONVENIENCE IS THE NAME OF THE GAME WHEN IT COMES TO TEMPTATION. It was convenient for Jesus to turn the stones into bread, but COMMITMENT prevailed. TODAY PRAY FOR THE ABILITY TO OVERCOME TEMPTATION.... Lead us not into temptation". Your key to success in life is your ability to overcome temptation, especially in the days of your youth! THE TREE OF KNOWING GOOD AND EVIL WILL NOT BE UPROOTED. IT WILL REMAIN IN THE GARDEN, AND OUR RESPONSE TO IT DETERMINES OUR SPRITUALITY.
(KJV) James 1:12: "Blessed [is] the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him."
