MaGiroriyah muriko here? The letter, 1 Peter, was written by Peter but using Silvanus or Silas.
The letter is to the church in Rome. The church faced serious persecution and even Peter uses pseudonyms like Babylon to hide their real identity (1 Peter 5:13).
Who would be the best to address such persecution? What would be the best response to such persecution?
Royal Priesthood: The Background Of Writer And Church |
Peter’s Background.
He had been a very impetuous, emotional, unwise, and unlearned disciple of Jesus who spoke before thinking and also at the critical moment denied Jesus, despite being warned by the Lord (The fact that you fell does not determine who you are! Don’t continue in your failures, learn from them). However, after Pentecost and the baptism of the Holy Spirit he became bold even in the face of persecution(The holy Spirit is the owner of Glory Ministries and we can not do anything without Him).
In Acts 5 he was bold enough to answer the counsel that, “we ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29). In Acts 12 he was imprisoned and was ready to die for the Lord and had to be delivered by an angel of the Lord (Our God is a supernatural God till today). Eventually, he was crucified and according to tradition, refused to die the same way as his Lord and was therefore crucified upside-down! That is great! As we enter the last of the last days are you ready to live for the Lord? ad are you ready to die for Jesus Christ. We will be hated and persecuted for this faith!
Who best advises a church in the midst of Roman persecution, where the church was hated for the Lord more than Peter himself? He had been rebuked, beaten, arrested, imprisoned, and mocked, yet stood by the faith! For him, and us today, persecution, suffering, and opposition come with the territory!
Can I repeat this: "persecution, suffering, and opposition come with the territory!" This means, as you get into new territory you meet higher levels of persecution. It also means that: God will never allow His people to go through persecution if there is no bigger territory to be taken! As we start the year, be strong, persecution is coming but so is a bigger territory, we are a chosen generation, A ROYAL PRIESTHOOD... "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9).

Have a wonderful and blessed day. Amen.
