5 Things Every Young Minister’s Wife Should Know.
1. YOU ARE THE EXPRESSION OF HIS MINISTRY:
By Brighton Chipanga
A pastor's wife is the first ministry of her husband. You must become the first fan of your husband and his ministry. Your husband will go through accusations, criticisms, and persecutions and you must be the first person to stand with him. The success of his ministry is an expression of your success. Be the first person to demonstrate a strong belief in your husband and his ministry. There will come times of discouragement, but remember that your husband will always need a cheerleader. He will need somebody who believes and encourages him, and you will have to be that somebody. You might know all his shortcomings, but demonstrate belief in him and in his ministry. Send him a message after he is done preaching. Tell him how great of a minister he is.
2. HIS MINISTRY IS AS STRONG AS YOUR MARRIAGE:
A strong marriage plays a pivotal role in the success of a person’s ministry. Behind every successful ministry is successful family life. Marriage was instituted by God to make things better for the man and woman in it. When you understand God's purpose for the marriage institution, it will go a long way to help you build a successful life and ministry. The ministry of your husband is only as strong as your marriage. The enemy would do everything to fight your marriage and your husband's ministry, but do everything in your power to make your marriage work.

And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him. Genesis 2:18
3. UNDERSTAND YOUR UNIQUENESS AND PURSUE YOUR VISION:
You are unique and special to God and you have a responsibility of discovering your uniqueness and purpose as you use it to be a blessing to your husband’s ministry. You are a peculiar specimen of divine glory and a creature of great value. You carry the answers to the questions of the world. You have impeccable abilities, talents, and unusual grace. Discover your uniqueness and purpose and use it to be a blessing to his ministry. Discover your placement in God’s agenda and pursuit. It is my belief that not every pastor’s wife is called into the preaching ministry but I also believe that every pastor’s wife must be able to teach and preach the word in her unique way. The five-fold ministry was established for the perfecting of the saints to do the work of the ministry. Look out for the area in your husband’s ministry where your gifts and talents are needed and start using them.
4. DEVELOP STRONG LEADERSHIP SKILLS:
It is a great privilege for your husband to have you in his life and ministry and likewise a privilege for you to be connected with him and his ministry. You and your husband must not take this privilege of being partners in the Lord’s vineyard for granted. Every privilege comes with responsibilities. As a minister’s wife, you have the responsibility of being a great blessing to him and his ministry, and one of the ways of doing that is to develop leadership skills. The development of your leadership skills will help you draw the best out of other people and inspire them to maximize their potential in helping your husband grow and expand in his assignment. Everyone has the capacity for leadership but the capacity must be developed. Develop yours and use it effectively and efficiently.
5. PROTECT YOUR HOME.
Your home is not an extension of the church, this line must be drawn with wisdom and you have the responsibility of protecting it. Set the atmosphere which is permissible in your home. It will be very careless on your part to think that everyone who knocks on the door of your church is trustworthy and therefore welcome in your home. Your first responsibility is to minister to your husband, as a helpmeet not as an associate pastor. Your second and also very important responsibility is that as a mother to your children.
Be blessed and lifted.
Have a wonderful and blessed day. Amen.
