SUPPORTING YOUR SPOUSE

One way to be an encouragement to your spouse is to be a supportive spouse in action and in attitude.

To be supportive means to give help or assistance or to hold something or someone up.

"And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins." 1 Peter 4:8

This can be a rewarding role. Although dictionary definition is quite clear and for most couples the most important aspect of being supportive is being a loving spouse no matter what.

When defining supportive you find the phrases like;

"Providing for"

"Strengthening"

"Bearing the weight"

"keeping from falling, sinking or slipping"

That's quite a responsibility for anyone to take on and it grows greater when a spouse is weighed down by problems or is coping with feelings of loss, disappointment and fear.

So, to be a supportive spouse one will need to do certain things like:

🎯 Show that you have faith in your spouse.

🎯 Be the shoulder to lean on when your spouse has a sinking feeling.

🎯 Work together with your spouse to maintain balance in life together.

🎯 Don't be threatened by your spouses accomplishment, tell people and your partner how proud you are of them.

🎯 Listen well so that your spouse knows you are willing to understand the issues or situation troubling them.

🎯 Be realistic as you encourage your spouse, don't exaggerate.

Always look out for one another, for two heads are better than one.

In all situations, be there to stand by your spouse.
