5 Temptations Satan Uses To Conquer Men’s Souls

Temptation is not the same as sin. Satan, on the other hand, makes use of your sinful nature and the desires you have within you. This is how he tries to catch you off guard.

Here are the five temptations Satan uses to enslave men's souls.

1 “Pride leads to conflict,” says the enemy (Proverbs 13:10).

The enemy's most powerful strategy for keeping you defeated is to instill confidence in you. Satan fell because he was proud, and he wants to bring you down with him by making you proud as well. Don't let yourself get swept up in it!

What exactly is pride? “An exaggerated perception of one's dignity or importance; exaggerated self-esteem or conceit, haughtiness or arrogance; self-esteem derived from one's achievements or possessions; an exaggerated idea of one's dignity or importance,” according to the dictionary. That's just the description from the dictionary, and it's bad enough! However, the Bible goes much deeper in its definition of pride, describing it as one of God's seven abominations. It is an abomination to Him, according to Proverbs 6:16-17. (AMPC). Since Satan knows that pride leads to destruction and shame (Proverbs 11:2, 18:12), he will use deceit to make you proud. He'll start whispering all the things you want to hear in the hopes of making you puff up. “You know, you're way better than those other Christians,” he'll say. You have more ministry experience and live a more holy life.” If you fall for this trick, you'll soon find yourself with an inflated sense of self-worth. You'll be strutting around with pride. How many times have we seen believers get themselves into trouble because of their inflated sense of self? They begin to believe that they are extremely intelligent and that they have it all figured out. That's a dead giveaway that they're listening to the devil's whispers. And, all of a sudden, they're realizing they ought to straighten out everything else. Instead of letting Jesus be the Head of the Church, they feel obligated to step in and take over. It's only a matter of time before there's a confrontation, and they fall back on their faces in defeat. What is the reason for this? Since God, according to the Bible, opposes the proud (1 Peter 5:5).

2 Financial temptations.

Money lust is the source of all evil. Money can be seductive to men. In reality, one of the key competitors to serving God, according to Jesus, is money. Men are prone to earning or borrowing more money than they want. As a result, important things like family, quiet time with God, and overall quality of life are moved to the back burner. Apart from God's wisdom, everything is vain. Ask God to grant you restraint in this area so you can live a debt-free life with Jesus as your supreme lord.

3 Carnal experience, temptations.

For Christian men, maintaining s*xual integrity is difficult. Every day, they are bombarded with images of beautiful and often underdressed women from the media. “Do not adhere to the pattern of this universe, but be changed by the renewing of your mind,” Paul advised. Carnal encounter temptation is unavoidable; it exists. It is your duty, men, to not act on it and to escape at all costs.

4 Envy Temptation.

You must not lust after your neighbor's home. Exodus 20:17 says, "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor." Most of the men I know have a strong urge to compete. The desire to win is greater than the desire to lose. If you play me in something, I will give it my all to beat you. I'll love you later, but right now I want to beat you. That is the essence of competition. Although this is perfect on the basketball court or on the video game console, it can be disastrous in our personal lives. People I know are always comparing themselves to what others have or are doing. You get a new car and they get a new one. They experiment with something new in their ministry, and you experiment with something new in yours. This can turn into an endless, envy-filled rivalry that helps no one and puts your interests first.

God never intended for us to be in competition with one another. He urged us to embrace and encourage one another. When one person wins in God's kingdom, we all win (maybe not on the basketball court, but definitely in the kingdom). We all fall when one of us falls. Work as hard as you can to achieve your goals, and make sure you're assisting your brother in doing so as well. Do nothing out of envy or arrogance, but rather, in modesty, consider one another as greater than yourself – Philippians 2:3. (CJB)

5 Lustful Inner Life.

On the outside, we can't live a Christian life while nurturing a life that's the polar opposite on the inside. This hypocrisy would not only cause spiritual chaos, but it will also pull you away from God. What matters most to God is one's spirit, not how Christian one looks to others. God should be the master of your imagination. Since we still live in bodies with a sinful nature, everything in life has the potential to become an unnatural lust. That is why it is so important to have a good relationship with God because if these problems arise, he will point them out and, more importantly, help you root them out.
