Moving The Church To The Next Level: The Holy Spirit

This is the dispensation (era) of the Spirit and no genuine work of God can be done without the Spirit. He is the owner of this ministry, Glory Ministries.

The Apostle is the leader in a sense but both the church and him are owned and should be controlled by the Spirit. Though the vision bearer, Apostle Sibiya, is the father of the ministry the larger picture shows that the Spirit is the Father of this work. In everything invite and acknowledge the Spirit. But what is his work?

I cannot fully explore and exhaust the work of the Spirit. He does all and much more than Jesus did. Here I will mention but a few roles He performs. He:

convicts and convinces sinners (John 16:8-11)

introduces us to the spirit world (1Cor 2:9-10)

brings true worship of God (John 4:24, Eph 5:18-19)

glorifies Jesus (John 16:13-15)

brings understanding of God’s Word (1 Cor 2:9-10)

communicates God’s will to us (John 16:13)

testifies of our relationship with God (Rom 8:16)

teaches us (John 14:26)

guides us into all truth (Rom 8:14)

helps us in prayer (Rom 8:26)

helps us to live sinless lives (Galatians 5:16)

gives life to our mortal bodies (Rom 8:16)

These are some of the roles, but anyway the Holy Spirit is the presence of God amidst us and in us. Godly signs and wonders, miracles, healings are by his power.

We should realize that the Spirit is not an “it”, He is a person. A person is not simply a fleshy substance but is a personality, thus character traits, behaviours, qualities and individuality . The Holy Spirit has a personality. Jesus refers to him as “he” (e.g. John 14:17) He can:

- feel, therefore can be grieved (Eph 4:3)

- speak, teach and pray (Acts 13:2, John 14:26, Rom 8:26)

- forbid (Ac 16:6)

- comfort (Ac 9:31)

- think (Rom 8:6) etc

He is therefore not simply a force, energy or power neither is he a spook-like nor ghost-like vapour though he has no flesh. He is indeed a person. This is very hard for our minds to understand this because when the word person is mentioned we usually have a picture of a physical person and it is hard to imagine a spiritual being. It’s okay but with the passage of time you will learn to accept this.

If we then agree he is a person then he also needs communion. The Apostles in Acts 15:28 made decisions together with or in unison with the Spirit. The Apostle Paul, in a benediction encourages us to have the grace of Lord Jesus Christ, love of God and the communion of the Spirit (2 Cor 13:14). That’s what I am talking about. But what does “communion” mean in English and in relation to the Spirit? It means:

1. Fellowship, that is, a friendly association with.

2. Participation, which means involvement, to have part in, or being part of.

3. Companionship or comradeship which is partnerships and leadership.

He is your partner and your leader. While he is your friend he still

remains your God. Choo refers to him as the “senior partner” while he

is the “junior partner”.

4. Sharing which means to partake of, to take on his character and being.

5. Intimacy, which has to do with close acquaintance, being knitted together and interwoven. This has nothing to do with sex as other heretics (false teachers) suggest.

This is the kind of relationship that should be between the Spirit and us. This way it will be much easier for the Spirit to help us succeed in the vision (and in life) He has given us. He has given it and he knows its destiny and the path it should take thereof. Speak to him always morning, noon and evening time. If you know the Spirit is not in you pray to God so that he may baptize you above the point of speaking in new tongues. If you are in an organization calling itself a church flee for your dear life! Why? Because if we do not have the Spirit we are not of Christ (Romans 8:9). Take this very seriously and begin to pray for the infilling of the Holy Spirit, also talk to your leaders for prayer. Do not just go to other places for the prayer because you have impartation of evil spirits unless at the advice of your leaders.

If you are in Christ and have the genuine Spirit in you then listen and obey him, working together with him and making use of the gifting he has placed on your life, your talents and skills. Do not tell me, “I am an evangelist” when there is no fruit. We know a prophet by his fruit not a title. Where is the Teacher? If Jesus had no saving effect on me I would not call him saviour. It’s not about titles and positions but the work done. I challenge the apostles, prophets, evangelists, teachers and pastors to rise up to what God has called them to be and to do. I encourage every child of God to make use of the gifts and talents God has given them. Do it with fiery heart and Christ-like zeal according to the grace given to you (Romans 12:5-8, 11). However I counsel you not to over-do things and listen to all voices without discerning because satan and your mind also talk to you. Do not follow rebellious people who hide beyond what they term, God’s voice.

Receive Jesus Christ today and go to church for spiritual fellowship.
