The anointing that is upon your life can increase or decrease depending on how you handle it.
Manage it well and it will increase. Manage it badly and it will decrease. Here are some things that you can do to increase the anointing that is upon your life:
1. Loving Righteousness And Hating Iniquity: Thou Hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. (Hebrews 1:9) KJV.
Let thy garments be always white (this symbolically speaks of righteousness), and let thy head lack no ointment (The anointing) (Ecclesiastes 9:8) KJV.
If you desire a greater anointing in your life, learn to love righteousness and to hate iniquity. Have a clear understanding that you are dealing with the "Holy Spirit" who is holy and righteous.
Therefore impurity or ungodliness will cause the anointing to decrease in your life while purity and godliness will cause the anointing to increase in your life. 1 Peter 1:14-16 (KJV)
14. As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15. But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, be ye holy; for I am holy. Having, therefore, these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2 Corinthians 7:1) KJV
It is those who love righteousness and hate iniquity that God anoints with the oil of gladness above their fellows.

2. Fervent Prayer: The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, [dynamic in its working]. (James 5:16(b) Amplified Bible Classic Edition (AMPC)
The tremendous power that is being spoken of here is the anointing. Tremendous power speaks of greater power. If you desire an increase in the anointing that is upon your life, earnest prayer is the key.
God's Word admonishes us to Pray without ceasing in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)
Luke 5:16, 17 (KJV) And He (Jesus) withdrew himself into the wilderness and prayed. And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and the doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every village of Galilee and Judaea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
The power of the Lord is the healing anointing which was made available through prayer. Neglecting prayer can decrease the anointing in your life.
