How To Minister From A Place Of Rest with Pastor Berry Dambaza (Part 2)

Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of goodwill. (Philippians 1:15).

The New Living Translation puts this verse in a much more clearer light. Here is what it says, “It’s true that some are preaching out of jealousy and rivalry. But others preach about Christ with pure motives”

1. MINISTER OUT OF PURE MOTIVES: It is important that whatever ministry we are doing is emanating from pure motives because the place of purity is the place of rest. Ministry can be done out of impure motives. Ministry is not to be done out of a spirit of competition and there are many who operate from that kind of trajectory.

For we are not like many,[acting like merchants]peddling God’s Word [shortchanging And adulterating God’s Message];but from pure [uncompromized] motives, as commissioned and sent from God, we speak [His Message] in Christ in the sight of God (2 Corinthians 10:13). The Amplified Bible. The place of pure motives is the place of Peace and rest.

2. MINISTRY IS NOT A RAT RACE! Ministry is not a rat race. It is a grace. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy (Romans 9:16).

The place of grace is the place of rest because you are not worried about the fast runners or even feeling good because the slow runners are behind you! You are just running in your lane because the Lord bid you to run in that lane and knows your pace and the good part is that you also know your best pace. God gives different capacities and it’s good to know one’s capacity so that you are not under undue pressure to line up with someone else or outshine someone!

It’s also good to be aware that capacity may not remain static forever. It may increase depending on your faithfulness. Always be ready for such changes and shifts.

3. OUR SUFFICIENCY IS OF GOD AND NOT OF OURSELVES: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth light (2 Corithians 3:5,6). The place where our sufficiency and enabling is of God is the place of rest. That is where you and me aught to operate from in all our ministering. The place of rest is full of power and grace.

And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus:and great grace was upon them all(Acts 4:33). The early disciples ministered from this place of rest. No wonder their ministries has such great impact!

4. THE PLACE OF OUR WEAKNESSES IS PARADOXICALLY OUR PLACE OF REST AND POWER! The place of rest is paradoxically the place of weaknesses. It’s a place of exchange where we exchange our weaknesses for his power. This is the place where our Lord told Paul,”My grace is sufficient for thee:for my strength is made perfect in weakness” That is why Paul responded by saying most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, THAT THE POWER OF CHRIST MAY REST UPON ME (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches,in necessities, in persecutions,In distresses for Christ’s sake: FOR WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN I AM STRONG (2 Corinthians 12:10) Strive to enter that rest! For that is the place of power and grace!
