It is both an honour and a priviledge to be working for God. Whether you work for Him or not does not change who God is but it definitely changes who you are and your reward in Heaven.
1. Because you are here on God’s assignment:
You are not here to be popular, make money, for giving birth. You are here to fulfil God’s preset mandate over your life Jeremiah 1:12. Life without doing the work of God is both valueless and meaningless…munhu anobarwa iye anokura asi kufa kuchauya! Is that all there is to life?
If God saved you only so that you can go to Heaven, why were you not saved on your death-bed or a few hours before your death? You are here for a purpose.
2. Ultimately the work that you do for God is what is of eternal value. 1 Corinthians 9:25
All other work on the earth serves people for just this life which we are allowed to live for 120 years…and 120 years is like a drop in the ocean of eternity…but the work of God is for eternity.
3. God’s work is the most noble thing in life:
Of all work that can be done on the earth no one is as noble as the work of God. Noble means, honourable, decent, principled, upright, magnanimous, self-sacrificing, virtuous, gallant, moral and polite.

Woe is unto us if we do not do the work of God. When God spoke to me he said I will not prosper if I don’t preach.
5. God never forgets your labour of love. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Unlike other people who use you, abuse or misuse you to get to the top and then forget you God never forgets your labour of love.
6. Salvation is free but the crown is not. 1 Corinthians 3:8, 14-15
It is possible to be in Heaven but never to get a reward. When in Heaven your reward becomes the issue, not going to Heaven.
7. You become a co-labourer with God. 1 Corinthians 3:9
When you are mature in faith you realize that we are co-owners of the Kingdom and hence are co-labourers with God not some.
8. Not working for God is working for Satan Matthew 12:30, Luke 11:23
According to Jesus there is no via-media, there is no gray area, you are either in the light or darkness. If you are not gathering with him, you are not just standing, you are scattering. If you are not working with Christ you are working against Him.
9. Whatever you do on earth is being put into heaven. Matthew 6:19-20
When you do things for God on the earth you are actually stocking wealth in heaven. A woman in the U.K gave her bathroom set to a pastor and when she died she saw it in Heaven and was shown the instruments that she sent money to buy at her Zimbabwe church.
10. Your work for God on the earth determines your home and status in Heaven. Daniel 12:2-3
“Vaka imba yako, vaka nemabasa.”
11. It is the work of every saint to do ministry not the five-fold ministry. Ephesians 4:11-14
12. What you sow is what you reap. Galatians 6:6-7
Sowing and reaping is a unviversal principle in the earth. However spiritual sowing has to do with the work of God.
13. Of the sacrifices of Jesus and other saints
The sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross was not just to pay for sin but to also demonstrate to us the kind of life that we should live.
Jesus sacrificed. “Dai zvaibvira ndaifanana nemi mununuri wemweya wangu…”
The early church suffered for the Kingdom. “Vaporofita vapostori vakafira Jesu…” Not fulfilling the cry of Jesus' blood and that of the matyrs is making a mockery of the work of the cross.
Even today many Christians are suffering persecution yet we have peace. “If you cannot run with the footmen, what more with the horsemen?”
14. The harvest is plenty but the labourers are few
15. God is working and we must work
