It is so sad to note that sometimes the devil will attack the pastor’s wife through people in the church themselves. Many pastors’ wives secretly wish they were never married to a pastor.
Of all the people in the church, the most insecure may be the wife of the minister. People naturally love and respect their pastor but always ask themselves about the wife:
- Is she really called of God?
- Does she suit our pastor?
- Does she have spiritual power?
- Can she counsel us?
- Can she be confidential with our secret issues?
- Does she love us?
- Is she fair and will not take sides with the rich?
- Ministers’ spouses have been under the brunt of much scrutiny and criticism even.
- She does not know how to dress?
- She cannot preach? She is not powerful.
- Before she came, pastor was very powerful.
All of these remarks sap the vital force of life from a pastor’s spouse. Can I ask? Who are you to speak against God’s servants? How qualified are you to criticize them? Why are you not afraid to touch the Lord’s anointed? Do you know that David would not even touch the demon-possessed king who even wanted to kill him just because, he was, “the Lord’s anointed?” Do you know that the arch-angel Michael could not even speak bad against Satan? “Like wise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

Yet Michael the arch-angel when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, the Lord rebuke thee.”(Jude 8-9). Is your pastor as bad as the Devil? Is your pastor’s spouse Lucifer? Why speak ill against people who are trying to help you?
While your pastor's wife may have many weaknesses always know she is the one who God allowed to mother you. Rather than speak about her, why not pray and support her. Be careful because what you sow is what you reap!...And servants of God are very fertile ground!
Dishonouring minister’s spouses ultimately destroys the integrity of the servant of God if not kept in check. The church must honour the servants of God by standing by the spouses of the ministers. Even men whose wives are at the forefront of ministry need the respect of the church even when dealing with their wives.
